STEWARDSHIP OF TREASURE
When Jesus
asked the Samaritan woman for a drink of water, He opened the door for a
life-changing relationship with Him.
Scripture says her testimony drew many others to Him as well. We, too, must be ready to respond
whenever and wherever the Lord speaks to us and be prepared for it to change
our lives!

FROM THE PASTORÕS DESK
Stewardship
of Treasure: We need your HELP
financially each
week. Our Church and School
utility bill (gas, water, electricity) for mid-December to mid-January was
$13,900. I expect that our utility
bill for mid-January through mid-February will be about the same. In addition, the City hit us with a six
month bill of nearly $2,000 for storm water utility. Again, I ask for your understanding and generosity in
meeting our obligation. Pray also
for a warm Spring!
God bless,
Fr. Dan
FAITH ENRICHMENT THURSDAY EVENING
--Lenten Prayer, Supper, Talk
Series--
When: ThursdayÕs during Lent- February 7 – March 13 5:30 PM – rotates weekly between Stations
/ Taize Prayer / Mass. 6:00 PM
– Soup & Bread. 6:30 PM
Talk. (Conversation/Dialogue with Pastors)
OUR THEME: WHAT IS CATHOLIC EVANGELIZATION?
Jesus told his followers to Ògo and make disciples of
all nationsÓ (Matthew 28:19). We
will study and discuss what this means today. A recent document from the Congregation for the Doctrine of
the Faith challenged Catholics to be evangelizers. In 1992 the Bishops of the United States presented a plan
and strategy for evangelization.
We will use that doctrine as the basis for our study and
discussion. As usual we will begin
with either the Stations of the Cross, Taize Prayer or Mass, followed by soup
and bread. The study presentation
will follow the meal. All are
invited to attend and share in the discussion.
Fr. Dan, Fr. Lee and the Cathedral Parish Family,
I would like to say thanks to all of you for the support I received over
the past 10 years in which it has been my good fortune to have worked at the
Cathedral Parish Office.
Thank you for last SundayÕs coffee parties, flowers, gifts and cards,
but most of all THANK YOU for your good wishes and PRAYERS for Dave and
myself. Please know that we
appreciate your kindness. I will
miss being part of the daily happenings.

THE ROSE ENSEMBLE
The Rose Ensemble Candlelight Concert – The
Secret Society of Notre Dame De Paris.
Scandal, satire, pilgrimage and politics: Enter Paris at a time when monks were scholars, fierce
social commentators and composers of a dramatically different kind of
music. From the scholarsÕ quarter
of Notre Dame came the rhythmically complex, organic harmonies of a new style
said to be directly influenced by the syncopated hammering of construction on
the Cathedral of Notre Dame. In
this ethereal concert by candlelight, The Rose Ensemble captures the medieval
world of the great cathedral. The
concert will be held on Friday, February 29th at 7:30 PM here at
Cathedral of Christ the King. (Pre-concert
presentation at 6:30 PM) Tickets: $23 ($15 seniors)

WEEKLY MEDITATION
FEBRUARY 24, 2008
THIRD SUNDAY OF LENT
Readings: Exodus 17:3-7; Psalm 95; Romans
5:1-2,5-8; John 4-5-42
ÒIf today you hear GodÕs voice,
harden not your hearts.Ó (Psalm
95:7-8)
Note: During Lent, those who are preparing to be baptized on
Holy Saturday (Òthe ElectÓ) are called to come before the community for
exorcism and prayers. These
ceremonies, called the ÒScrutiniesÓ, take place after the liturgy of the word
on the Third, Fourth and Fifth Sundays of Lent. These rites are intended to purify the hearts and minds of
the elect, to strengthen them against temptation, to help them progress in the
love of God. The assembly is asked
to pray for them during the service and throughout Lent.
Our journey toward God with Jesus
is a slow and gradual pilgrimage.
During our life, Jesus reveals more and more of himself to us in many
different ways. In the Gospel
story, the Samaritan woman met Jesus, and through the discussion with him,
gradually came to some understanding of who he was. When she understood better the one she was speaking with,
she went and told others about him.
They in turn came to Jesus and grew in their belief in him because they
had met him personally.
Each of us should review how we
have met Jesus. Even those of us
who were baptized as infants have grown in our understanding of his life and
work. The question then becomes
how have we responded to this growing knowledge. Have we tried to know him better through study and prayer?
The other part of coming to know
Jesus better is our need then to tell others about him. We can do this in many ways, but one of
the best ways is through the way we live.
Pope Paul VI said that we teach more through our personal example than
by the words we use. At the end of
his life here on earth, Jesus sent out his followers to tell others about him
and his work. The word we use for
this is ÒevangelizationÓ. In our
adult faith formation program during Lent we are trying to learn more about
this work that we have been called to do.
Basically evangelization is simply coming to know Jesus better, and then
letting others see him in your daily life. It is not something complicated or fancy.
What will you and I say to others
about Jesus? The Samaritan woman
was excited by what he had told her and she shared this with others. What has Jesus shown you about your
life? Could you tell others about
this?
Question for Children: How do you experience Jesus helping and loving you?
Questions for Youth: Jesus revealed himself to an outcast of society. How can you be Òliving waterÓ to the
outcasts of your school? Society? The world?Ó
Questions for Adults: When you are tempted to try to satisfy your Òthirst for
meaningÓ through some other means, what keeps you coming back to the living
water of intimacy with Christ? Through
what means do you experience ChristÕs power in your life: sacraments? Scripture?
Prayer? Others?
ÒAll you who are thirsty, come to
the water!Ó (Isaiah
55:1 – but read the whole chapter)

CONFIRMATION

6:30 – 8:00 PM
RCIA
What is the Presentation of the
Creed?
The Presentation of the Creed entrusts
the words of the Creed to those seeking full initiation in the Catholic Church.
Nearly seventeen centuries old, the Creed is recited by the faithful at every
Mass, and summarizes what we believe as Catholics. For those coming into the
Church this Easter, this Rite
symbolizes that the parish community is passing on and sharing the beliefs of
our Catholic faith with them so that those about to join our Catholic family
embrace and treasure these venerable words as we do.
This week's RCIA session will be
"The Sacrament of Reconciliation?" The session will be held on
Sunday, February 24, at Holy Assumption Parish beginning at 7:00 p.m. Next
week's session will focus on the Sacrament
of Eucharist and the Church. For
more information contact the parish office or call Dick and Judy Lyons, the
city RCIA coordinators, at 888- 820-8963.
